It began with the establishment of a small surau that later grew into a mosque over time. Thus, Masjid Jamek Matang Gerdu was founded in Bagan Serai, Perak.

This mosque began construction in 2020. Today, the mosque not only serves as a place of worship but also as a community center and multipurpose hall for the local residents.
