It began with the establishment of a small *surau* (prayer hall), which later evolved into a mosque as time passed. This is how Masjid Jamek Matang Gerdu, located in Bagan Serai, Perak, came to be established.

Construction of this mosque began in 2020. Today, it serves not only as a place of worship but also as a community hub and a multi-purpose hall for local residents. As a community center, the mosque is used by congregants of all ages for communal prayers, educational gatherings, and social activities.
